Rama King Nash

Artist

Rama King Nash’s contribution to Apollo to Apollo and his art exceeds words, his participation from the autumn 2013 in our triumvirate (together with Henrik B. Andersen and Florencia Vogogna) was essential for the foundation of Apollo to Apollo and we would never have gotten this far without Rama.

In 2010, Henrik had the pleasure of being introduced to the incredibly talented artist Rama King Nash by a friend in common from Monaco. As they shared many values in life and a mutual passion for art, the beauty, the human nature and history, their regular meetings developed quickly into a long friendship. In 2012, without knowing anything at all about Apollo to Apollo, Rama accepted the challenge of interpreting 'the divine and eternal beauty' into a painting: he created “Painting is eternal” and this breathtaking work of art became the most important experience and a game changer that reconfirmed all the theories behind the creation of Apollo to Apollo.

Since October 2013, Rama was introduced to Apollo to Apollo and he fortunately accepted to join us in the adventure. He continued his impressive work with the interpretation of other “themes” related to the ancient miniature art: evolution, mystery, history, adventure, culture/civilization, meaning of life, the sacred gifts, Mount Janus, the tree of life, the magic of life, etc., into a series of paintings: “The Future meets the Past in the Present”. He has also created all the unique illustrations that represent Apollo to Apollo in our books, website and logos.

Very sadly, our dear friend Rama passed away in 2018 at only 42 years old. Unfortunately he could not continue his invaluable contribution to Apollo to Apollo. His knowledge, friendship, incredible talent and enthusiasm are very much missed. It was a true honor and a privilege to have met and worked with Rama for so many years. Apollo to Apollo will never be the same without Rama King Nash! All honor to his memory.

“He whom the gods love dies young.”

Quote by the Greek dramatist Menander approx.
342 – 291 B.C.

Rama King Rash was a contemporary artist born in Mexico City in 1976. He was both Mexican and Danish. His mother was Pernille Nash and his father was Andrés King Cobos. Rama was trained as an artist at the Mexican Art Academy in Mexico City, the School of Visual Arts in Copenhagen and the graphic arts school "Il Bisonte" in Florence.

In 1997 Rama moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, where he worked in painting, engraving, enamel and art installations at his studio Verket, located in Frederiksberg. Rama exhibited his works of art in Denmark, Sweden, Mexico, Peru, France, Monaco and Greenland.

In Rama King Nash family tree is the two well-known Danish artists Jørgen Nash and Asger Jorn. Despite these roots, Rama King Nash had the courage to go his own way with his art and created his own identity. Rama King Nash’s dedication to art and the intensity of his work was very much inspired by the following words by his grandfather Jørgen Nash: "You don't come to anything in life sleeping - and certainly not as an artist. You must be ready to work both day and night if you want to earn a living”.

Rama King Nash’s contribution to Apollo to Apollo will be commemorated with a book, please follow our news for more information.
